North to south through the Northern Territory, the Binns Track is a more scenic alternative to the Stuart Highway

The Binns Track, named after Bill Binns, is an alternative route to the Stuart Highway. Mt Dare, on the edge of the Simpson Desert is linked with Timber Creek in the Northern Territory’s Top End. Included along this fascinating track are Gregory National Park, the amazing Devils Marbles, the township of Tennant Creek and the old telegraph station, the Davenport Ranges, Arltunga Historic Goldfields, Alice Springs and Old Andado. The Binns Track features some of the Northern Territory’s best 4-wheel drive tracks.

The Binns Track DVD is currently on special for $15.00. But if you order it with either of Lure of the Kimberley or Magic of the Flinders Ranges, the price for two DVDs is $25.00 And if you order all 3 DVDs the price is $35.00. And as usual, if you order 3 or more DVDs, postage is free.

The terrain the Binns Track passes through is diverse with start and finish in the desert and tropical north (depending which way you go). The trip featured in this video began in the tropics at Timber Creek. Even though it was July, and due to a late wet season, many of the northern tracks were still closed. But there was still plenty to see and explore around Timber Creek and Gregory National Park.

We completed our Binns Track journey at Mt Dare so it was natural to head home across the Simpson Desert. Again, rain had fallen on the eastern side of the desert and Eyre Creek had flooded. This was an unexpected bonus as we completed the detour to the safe crossing point of the usually dry creek. The adventures of this Simpson Desert crossing are included on the DVD too.

So the Binns Track is a very scenic alternative route to the Stuart Highway indeed and you can see it all in this informative video. As with all our videos, we have included mudmaps and the viewer can see the road conditions as the group of travellers explore along the Binns Track.
